  • Richard Kane claims four world speed records (View PDF)

NPR Story on Record Attempt

(4 hours, 22 minutes and 25 seconds from West Palm Beach to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.  The National Aeronautic Association has just certified Richard Kane's flight as officially world-record breaking.  Kane ---who lives west of Lake Worth made the flight last month as part of the Centennial of Flight Celebration.  Kane's small special edition Cirrus has a souped up engine and is made of especially light materials:  Between West Palm Beach and Kitty Hawk, Kane stopped only once - partly to re-fuel and partly for a bathroom break for his pregnant wife who was along for the ride.)
