Richard Kane
Telecom entrepreneur Richard Kane founded Coastal
Technologies Group (CTGi) in 1996. As chairman and
CEO of the company, Kane sets the corporate direction
in research, design, development and optimization.
His success began at age 17 when he was profiled
by the New York Times for innovative developments
in security and copy protection. Now, with over
20 years of proven experience in high–performance
computing, Kane has achieved a number of industry
firsts in real-time SS7 correlation, automated revenue
assurance systems, X.25 CDR collection and processing,
fraud/balance control and migration of call processing
to networked PC nodes. As a creator of intellectual
property, Kane holds a number patents and copyrights
and continues to lead R&D in high-performance
computing and artificial intelligence.
Kane and his team have provided support for all
aspects of carrier network operations, including
traffic analysis, fraud prevention, trouble analysis
and reporting, operator services, dedicated order
processing, provisioning, CDR collection, network
control and VPN.
Before founding CTGi, Kane was the director of
Network Product Development at EDS where he set
the technology direction for the 12,000-person communications
industry group as co-author of Plan 2000. Kane was
also responsible for 14 telecommunications engagements
at Sprint, WorldCom, Frontier/GC and others.
In addition to his industry achievements, Kane
currently holds seven world speed records in piston
and turboprop aircraft, has flown the North Atlantic,
and has served as both an FAA Aviation Safety Counselor
and Young Eagles Flight Leader. Kane is actively
involved in the X Prize Foundation and has sponsored
a 2007 Lindbergh Foundation Grant. Both organizations
seek to improve the world and the human condition
by striking a balance between technology and the
environment while advancing the pace of technological
progress in answer to the grand challenges of our
time.
