Dear Richard:
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that
the ATIS Membership Committee has approved Coastal Technologies
Group’s application for membership with the Alliance for
Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). On behalf of the
ATIS Board of Directors, welcome and congratulations on your decision
to join the nation’s foremost solutions providers within
the communications industry.
ATIS is where the industry comes together
to resolve the most critical technical, operational and business
implementation issues. It serves as “home base” for
standardization experts from 350 of the leading carriers, service
providers, manufacturers, software companies and other industry
businesses. These individuals and companies work together through
ATIS to develop industry standards, guidelines and processes that
support timely delivery of new products and services to the market.
Whether its wireless, wireline, provisioning, IP Telephony, broadband,
service access, or “Next Generation,” ATIS and its
21 industry committees and Incubator Solutions Programs develop
essential solutions for successful deployment of these technologies,
and many more.
Within the last year, ATIS has emerged as
a major force, at a time when the industry continues to experience
radical change. The ATIS Board of Directors launched a series
of significant, strategic initiatives in 2003, designed to define,
prioritize, and execute work on the industry’s most critical
technical and operational issues. Among these efforts was the
establishment of the ATIS Technical Operations (TOPS) Council,
led by ATIS Board Chairman Bill Smith, Chief Technology Officer
for BellSouth.
The ATIS TOPS Council is responsible for identifying
the industry’s most pressing technical and operational priorities,
and coordinating the industry’s efforts to develop implementable
and interoperable, end-to-end solutions that address priorities
– allowing for the timely deployment of new technologies
and services into the marketplace. I should mention that the council
has recently completed plans for addressing three of the industry’s
most urgent priorities – VoIP, Network Security, and Data
Interchange. The plans will allow the industry to identify where
standards are needed for these priorities, and how the industry
will execute the priority standards work. More information on
the ATIS TOPS Council is available at http://www.atis.org/topscouncil.shtml.
ATIS membership provides the opportunity for your
company to strategically influence the direction of standards
work through participation in ATIS committees. And, information
gathered by ATIS on industry standardization activities, and efforts
led by the ATIS TOPS Council, enable you to make educated decisions
about your company’s investment in standards, in order to
produce the greatest return on investment to your business.
We look forward to serving you and supporting
your company’s needs in the standards arena. And, I look
forward to your company’s future participation in ATIS committees,
and at technical summits and events held regularly by ATIS. Please
feel free to reach me directly at 202/434-8828 or via email at
smiller@atis.org
should you have questions, or would like to discuss issues critical
to your company.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Miller
